The West of England is a fantastic part of the world to live, work and study. You will be a key part of creating change for the people of the region.
Regional government is growing in importance and the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority is a significant player. We can bring new high-skilled jobs to the region, help more people boost their skills, and deliver transport infrastructure - all while tackling the climate and biodiversity emergencies.
The new Chief Executive will provide strong leadership, further developing a performing organisation to deliver on my priorities as the directly elected Mayor. They will forge inclusive relationships and build on our great culture working in partnership with other politicians and officers in the local authorities, the Government, the third and private sector.
Delivery is vital. The Chief Executive will facilitate and secure delivery of major investment programmes, ensuring we have a track record of success that enables us to attract future funding.
The Director of Legal Services (Monitoring Officer) is a role for a talented lawyer. They will provide quality legal advice to the Mayor, elected Members and the leadership team to enable effective decision-making and enhance the authority’s ability to optimise strategic opportunities. The successful candidate will be confident, highly responsive, and adopt a proactive approach, combining solution-focused diplomacy with the ability to adapt to a changing environment.
For both roles, I am looking for senior leaders who are passionate about the West of England, who want to be a visible part of our future and take a personal pride in our successes. They will bring with them a track record of change management, successful leadership, and impactful delivery in complex, politically dynamic organisations.
